There are things you can do in the US that you can probably not do legally anywhere else in the world. One of them is firing guns. My housemate Piyush and me went for a beginners class and shooting live ammunition at the http://www.firingline.net/ today. My class of 5 was taken through a 90 minute session on handguns - revolver, semi-automatic and a 45 minute session of shooting practice at the range with about 40 rounds on the semi-automatic. Fantastic and I am thinking of doing this frequently. The last time I fired a gun was at school for the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and that was with a WW II era .303 rifle. One key takeaway for me was that guns are extremely dangerous.
