California Diary: Murder at Hillcrest

If you had read my previous posts, you would have read that I had stayed over at a colleague's place last weekend. They stay at an apartment complex called Hillcrest at thousand oaks. My colleague, Ramakanth Reddy who stays close by had come over to pick me up early Monday morning on his way to work. As I waited for him near the leasing office, I saw a battery of police cars, television mobile vans & reporters near some apartments. I brushed that off at that moment. But then later on Monday night as I watched the news I read that a resident's jealous boyfriend had bludgeoned her little son to death and injured her critically. Even a passer-by wasn't spared. This had happened a stones throw away from where I had been put up for the night. :-(
